2020 in Review

After a year full of challenges, we would like to thank our customers, partners, and colleagues for your confidence in us and your supportive collaboration! We wish you a reflective and relaxing holiday and a healthy start to the new year. To a successful 2021 together!

Facts & Figures - This was our 2020

If the past year has taught us one thing, it’s that, despite adversity, we can achieve a great deal if we stick together and everyone plays their part.

Meetups

Meetups

For many years, we have regularly held Meetups at our locations. These are thematically focused events where IT enthusiasts can meet and exchange ideas. We share our experiences and discuss what we have learned from our projects. We welcome everyone who is passionate about new technologies and appreciates open exchange!

This year, of course, due to the pandemic, Meetups could not be implemented in their usual form. We quickly learned, however, that online Meetups also met with great interest and lively participation. In total, we conducted 29 Meetups last year. If you are interested in our Meetups, you should check our event list regularly or register directly via the Meetup websites: Meetups CologneMeetups KarlsruheMeetups MunichMeetups Hamburg.

Blogposts

Blogposts

Our inovex blog is also becoming increasingly popular, and our colleagues are now writing several articles a month on a wide variety of technology and methodological topics. In 2020, we made 97 blog posts – an average of two articles per week!

Brownbag Sessions

Brownbag Sessions

Not only do we convey knowledge through our Meetups and blog articles, we also communicate internally via what are known as brownbag sessions. These sessions give every inovex employee the opportunity to give an informal presentation to their colleagues on a specific topic and to engage in discussion on that topic. At inovex, brownbags are held in a relaxed setting during lunch breaks. 270 such sessions were held during 2020, the slides from which can often be found in our content pool.

Remote Speed Dating

Remote Speed Dating

Have you tried online dating? We have – several times in the past year. If you’re missing out on conversations in corridors, communal lunch breaks, and personal interaction with your colleagues, you have to come up with something. Here at inovex, we had several 'dates' during 2020. Remote speed dating sessions were organised as part of our brownbag series. Each participant met virtually with colleagues for ten minutes to get to know each other and exchange ideas. Then they moved 'rooms' to meet virtually with different colleagues, who were selected by a random generation process.

Social Channels

Social Channels

It’s just a small step from online dating to a 'social life'. We are very active on social channels and enjoy interacting with the community. We have been represented on Twitter for 11 years, and we are proud of our now 1473 followers and 3659 tweets. We are also, however, delighted about our 2064 fans on LinkedIn, our 482 Instagram followers, and 569 Facebook subscribers. We are always happy to get in touch with people who want to learn more about inovex through these channels.

New Colleagues

New Colleagues

Although the conditions for growth were much more difficult, we welcomed many great new colleagues on board during 2020. With 30 additional permanent employees, 15 students on work placements, and three trainees, we now have almost 400 inovexperts.

Internal Chats

Internal Chats

Here at inovex, we work with Slack. Our teamwork and everyday communication take place in the various channels. Even during non-pandemic times, we use this tool constantly for direct messages, group discussions, company-wide announcements, etc. In 2020, we lit up Slack with 4,456,100 Slack messages. ;-)

Theses

Theses

One of the many uses of the inovex Lab is to promote young talent in the form of internships and theses. Here, future-oriented topics are explored and findings are shared – whether in robotics, wearable computers, machine learning, or augmented reality, to name but a few examples. Current topics include Microservices, AI/Machine Perception, Web & Mobile, Kubernetes and Agile. In 2020, 54 theses were written at inovex, including this one: Hybrid Methods for Time Series Forecasting.

Scientific Publications

Scientific Publications

Apart from our student assistants, our colleagues also take part in the scientific discourse. As part of their dissertations and research work, they shared their knowledge in 17 scientific publications this year - including on topics such as demand forecasting or collaborative predictive maintenance.

We will continue to stick together in 2021 and to collaborate on exciting joint projects. We wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year!
