Girls'Day 2017: inovex gives schoolgirls insights into IT

Karlsruhe-based IT project experts want to get girls enthusiastic about IT careers

(Karlsruhe, 22.03.2017) On Girls’ Day, 27th April 2017, IT project experts inovex will provide female students with an introduction to the world of IT.

Girls’Day is the world’s largest career initiative for female students. It gives girls from the fifth class and above the opportunity to visit companies and universities all over Germany to learn about careers and courses of study in IT, skilled trades, the natural sciences and technology, fields in which women are still underrepresented.

inovex is one of the companies holding a Girls’Day event at their location. The Karlsruhe-based IT project experts have already filled all their available programme slots with sixteen participants aged between 12 and 15. “We were delighted by the positive response,” says Christian Meder, Chief Technology Officer at inovex. “The girls will enjoy a day of exciting IT-related activities, including familiarising themselves with our robot, “Pepper”, and its functions – and even giving it some tasks to perform, with our help, of course. The girls will also receive a great deal of information on the various IT-related careers and courses of study.”

inovex encourages the next generation

inovex has always been keen to promote the next generation of IT experts. The company, for example, supports the Initiative Devoxx4kids, which introduces children to programming through play, and has made multiple donations of fischertechnik construction kits to a local school, the Weinbrennerschule Karlsruhe, to help equip their technological learning programme. The company also offers internships throughout the year, as well as trainee places and mentorships for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree dissertations.
