inovex Still One of Germany's Most Family-Friendly Employers

kununu/freundin study determines best employers for families

(Karlsruhe, 06.10.2017) Karlsruhe IT project experts inovex continue to be one of Germany's top ten most family-friendly employers. This year, inovex achieved 7th place in a major ranking study carried out by kununu and freundin. The competition was extremely fierce – the winner was ranked just 3 % higher than inovex.

The study

This is the second time the freundin media brand and the kununu employer review portal have assessed the family-friendliness of German employers. The survey's top 100 ranking is based on the evaluation of reviews from current and former employees, who rated factors like work/life balance, flexibility of working hours, childcare and company pension arrangements.

The study was based on more than 1.3 million evaluations of over 250,000 companies, and took into account every German company which has received at least one review on since 1st January 2017 and has at least 80 lifetime reviews overall. Additional criteria included family-friendly working conditions, such as flexible working hours or the option to work from home. Factors like workplace atmosphere and equality were also evaluated by current and former employees of all ages and at all stages in their careers. The comprehensive list of criteria also included questions on leadership behaviour, career advancement/training and salaries/benefits.

The results of the survey were detailed by freundin in a special job and career issue (22/2017), which was published on 4th October.

Family-friendly working conditions at inovex

"It's very important to us that our employees feel comfortable working here", explains Jasmina Groeger, Head of People & Culture at inovex. "This includes achieving a good work/life balance, something that is easy to do here, thanks to our flexible working hours and home office option. In addition, every inovex employee receives a smartphone and a company laptop. We don't have core hours. Instead, we trust project teams to communicate amongst themselves to determine which tasks need to be completed when. The results are what matters, not who works when and where."

In 2015, inovex implemented a company-wide part-time policy, under which each of the company's more than 250 employees can reduce their working hours without having to provide an explanation. "Many of our employees have already taken advantage of this option, and we have also seen an increase in parental leave and sabbaticals. These are all arranged with the minimum of bureaucracy," Groeger adds.

Alexander Köhler, who has been working in IT Engineering & Operations at inovex since 2016, praises the company's flexibility: "I have a young daughter and, as my wife works shifts, I often need to help out. On those days, I work from home so that I can collect our daughter from nursery school at lunchtime. If I didn't have that option, everything would be much more complicated and difficult."

inovex also plans to expand their family-friendly offerings. Two locations, for example, have parent/child workspaces, and others are in the works.
