You’ve certainly optimised software for runtime or memory usage before. But what about for CO₂ consumption?

While IT can be a solution to problems related to climate change, it also causes its own continuously increasing share of CO₂ emissions. Sustainable software development is, therefore, an essential approach to creating and running more environmentally friendly applications.

In our sustainable software development training course, we will show you how to create and run more environmentally friendly applications. The training course is useful regardless of the application area, industry or size of your company.

This includes particularly the knowledge of how much CO₂ is actually generated by software and how emissions can be reduced. In addition to theoretical foundations and general principles, practical exercises enable participants to gain experience with tools for greener software.

This training course prepares participants for the “Green Software for Practitioners” examination offered by the Linux Foundation. This examination must be taken separately.

Marc has been gaining experience in the development and transfer of knowledge since 2004; initially in academic teaching and since 2010 also in the private sector, where he has worked as a technical consultant, product owner, team coach and manager in various industries with both on-site teams and internationally distributed teams.

Mara Hermann discovered her fascination for data in the field of data science as a mathematician. Since 2018, she has been working primarily as a data engineer in customer projects, where she provides support in connecting new data sources and developing and operating data pipelines. In the field of sustainable computing, Mara combines her enthusiasm for data science & engineering with the desire for more sustainability.
