Description

The CPUX-F training course gives participants a comprehensive understanding of human-centred design (HCD), an iterative design approach which focuses on the use of interactive systems. During this course, participants will be introduced to the principles, methods, and products of HCD activities. This includes understanding and defining the context of use (who the users are, what they do, and what requirements they have), the precise definition of user requirements from a user perspective, the design of solutions (from early sketches right through to high-fidelity prototypes), and the evaluation of design solutions based on user requirements.

Particular emphasis is placed on human-centred quality, which is defined as the sum of usability, user experience (UX), accessibility, and the avoidance of harm from use. Participants learn how to systematically integrate these quality criteria into the development process in order to create effective, efficient, and satisfying interactive systems. The training course also highlights important design principles, such as the seven principles of interaction design, heuristics, affordance, and mental models, as well as ethical and sustainable design. The techniques learned can be used directly in participants’ own projects in order to increase the quality of their software products and to advance their organisations’ level of HCD maturity.

This training course prepares participants optimally for the internationally recognised UXQB® Certification to become a Certified Professional for Usability and User Experience – Foundation Level (CPUX-F). Participants wishing to take the certification examination must schedule and complete it separately. CPUX-F stands for Certified Professional for Usability and User Experience – Foundation Level. This is an internationally recognised certification which is issued by the International Usability and User Experience Qualification Board (UXQB e. V.). The CPUX-F curriculum on which it is based describes precisely the knowledge and concepts which a candidate must master in order to pass the certification exam. Only content described in this document will be tested during the examination.

The CPUX-F certification serves as globally recognised proof of a standardised and well-founded knowledge of usability and user experience. You will learn how to systematically apply human-centred design (HCD) to optimise the serviceability and user experience of interactive systems. This will enable you to develop more effective, more efficient, and more satisfying systems and to increase your organisation’s HCD maturity level. The CPUX-F certification can be considered a “driving licence” for building user-friendly software. Not only does it explain the rules of the road (design principles), it also enables you to plan a route (understand user contexts), select an appropriate vehicle (design solutions), and ensure that the journey for all passengers (users) is convenient and efficient (usability evaluation).

This training course is designed for user experience professionals, as well as for persons interested in entering this field. It is also particularly relevant for software developers, software testers, quality managers, project leaders, and product owners. In general, it is designed for all those who are interested in achieving a solid understanding of user-friendly design for interactive systems and who are interested in further developing their capabilities in usability and user experience.

No specific preparation is required. Sufficient time is allocated during the course to work through all the relevant content and to address individual questions. For the certification exam, however, it is strongly recommended that users thoroughly study the 40 publicly available CPUX-F certification questions and answers.

This training course serves as optimum preparation for the internationally recognised UXQB® Foundation Level certification for Certified Professional for Usability and User Experience (CPUX-F). Participants wishing to take the certification examination must schedule and complete it separately. The difficulty of the CPUX-F certification examination varies according to each candidates’ prior knowledge and experience. It tests solely those concepts and knowledge which are described in the official CPUX-F curriculum. All learning objectives are characterised by the keyword “understanding”, which means that participants can identify concepts and apply them to examples, even if the examination examples are formulated differently from those described in the curriculum. The CPUX-F training course provides participants with comprehensive and specific preparation for the certification examination. Studying the official test examination questions is expressly recommended.

Yes, the CPUX-F training course is designed as a practise-based course [training course description]. Although the CPUX-F curriculum defines the course content and not the training methods, this type of training course focuses on providing a well-balanced combination of theoretical and practical content. In addition, 40 CPUX-F certification questions and answers are freely available on the UXQB website and are often used in this training course.
