Zephyr

Zephyr is the secure, modular, open-source RTOS for modern embedded and IoT devices. We provide assistance through consulting, the development of new solutions, and knowledge transfer.

The Zephyr Project is a flexible, open-source development framework which is hosted by the Linux Foundation and specially developed for resource-constrained embedded devices. Zephyr provides more than a powerful, real-time operating system (RTOS) core – it contains all the prerequisites for embedded IoT development, such as comprehensive hardware support, connectivity middleware, and ready-to-use application functions. Zephyr enables you to use modern software development methods – from CI/CD through to TDD – in the embedded world.

We’ll support you from your initial concept right through to the completion of your certified product and bring the productivity of Linux development to your embedded projects.

Why Zephyr?

The benefits at a glance

Modularity and Scalability

The modular principle enables only essential components to be integrated. This optimises both the software’s footprint and its performance.

Security

Zephyr focuses on security features already in the core, such as Secure Boot and Trusted Execution Environments.

Maintainability

The use of established Linux technologies and the availability of community support simplify long-term operation.

Vendor Independence

Zephyr supports a wide range of architectures (ARM, x86, RISC-V) and microcontrollers, enabling us to tailor your software precisely to your needs.

What we offer

With our kickoff workshop offering, proofs of concept (POCs), and architecture evaluation, we’ll provide a rapid, secure start for your project – including well-founded technology and architecture decisions.

Whether you need Zephyr-based drivers, applications, or protocol stacks, we’ll develop custom-tailored, high-performance software for your specific product which fulfils all real-time capability and energy-efficiency requirements.

We implement automated test and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) for Zephyr applications, thus helping you to achieve higher software quality, faster release cycles, and fewer sources of error.

We adapt Zephyr to new hardware, integrate board support packages (BSPs), and perform deep system optimisation. We ensure seamless integration of software and hardware for optimum resource usage.

Zephyr at the inovex Academy

We‘re happy to share our expertise. Enhance your knowledge with our practical, hands-on training courses. All inovex’s Zephyr courses are taught by highly experienced trainers who use Zephyr daily in real-world customer projects.

We provide modular training – from introductory courses for developers looking to use the Zephyr framework to create their first stable applications right through to advanced training for in-depth learners.
